Taking Microsoft out of the equation, Ya-Goo might just turn out to be the next big thing to inundate virtual reality.

With undoubtedly the best search engine to ever emerge, coupled with Yahoo!'s knowhow on the right ways of bridging the social divide whilst keeping its loyal visitors entertained, it makes for a deadly partnership.

As the old adage holds, if you can't beat them, you join them. Yahoo! may soon realise a merger with Google will fly them to the moon faster than a handshake with Microsoft.

I agree with Salim that even with the merging of Yahoo! and Microsoft, it will not be easy to beat Google.
I have a Gmail account and definitely I find that Gmail is very user friendly. With its 6GB mailbox size, I need not delete my mails for quite a long time which add on to my convenience.
As for search engines, Google is definitely the best. Microsoft wants to beat the Google giant by merging with Yahoo!, but in my opinion, it will be quite tough.

Even with the merger, Yahoo and Microsoft still have a long way to go before beating Google, In my opinion.
I can remember the time when google mail was introduced, people were begging for invites, due to the unlimited mail box size and ability to access POP3 for free.
Yahoo and Hotmail were slow to follow suit by increasing mail box size to 5 GB and still doesnt allow pop3/imap access (for individual users for free-you need to subscribe for a fee)
Similarly, Google seems to be leading in innovations (Reminds me of DiGi in malaysia) like Google Doc and Google Map. They even have SMS Search in UK and US, which is predicted to expand to other regions.
I think the whole concept of Yahoo and Microsoft joining, is that Microsoft sees the idea of everyone havin access to the www in the future as a challenge and is trying to do something about it now.
